Rotation of light rays

Rotation of light rays
01/05/2006 | Elhuyar

Some Italian physicists have studied optical rotation in the laboratory, that is, they have measured the rotational capacity of light rays when they cross a magnetic field. This rotation is a very small effect, only a few billion degree, but physicists are also able to measure this small angle. However, the experiments have been performed in vacuum and the rotation indicates that in that vacuum there may be undetected particles. Moreover, the principle of uncertainty allows the formation of vacuum particles, which, according to physicists, can lead to the rotation of light rays.
