Rubio will work in the promotion and scientific dissemination

Ángel Rubio, professor of Materials Physics and director of the Nano-Bio Spectroscopy group at UPV, has been appointed a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). AAAS, the world's largest scientific society, is a non-profit association that promotes the progress of science through educational and outreach activities. This association publishes the well-known scientific journal Science.

"It is an honor to belong to this institution. On the one hand, because we are very few Spaniards on these lists, and on the other, and especially because it rewards in some way the work done during all these years in the field of the simulation of nanostructures and theoretical spectroscopy," says Rubio. "Now we have to continue investigating these lines and address new challenges," he added.

The AAAS Governing Council values in the election of new members the contributions of candidates to scientific progress or the achievement of applications accepted by society and the scientific field. Ángel Rubio has been selected in the field of physics for his great contribution to the application of computational and theoretical physics to the science of materials and nanotechnology, especially to the understanding of carbon nanostructures. "I will work on the promotion and dissemination of science. Also, in my field of work I have to refer in the journal Science," explains Rubio.
