Has the interaction between light and matter changed?

Some physicists have not found any changes in the interaction between photons and electrons.

Some physicists have found no change in the interaction between photons and electrons, as they claim that the constant alpha value that is important in this interaction has not changed.

However, it is not clear whether it is true or not. Three years ago other physicists published that the value of this alpha was different now and 12 billion years ago, and that its change over time has a great influence on many physical properties. For example, if the alpha were variable, the speed of light would also be variable. No joke. And although it does not vary according to the latest measurements, the question has not been fully answered.
