Two researchers from the French CNRS have developed a new mathematical model to better study whirlpools, such as hurricanes or sea currents. Junho Park and Paul Billand have published the details in the journal Physics of Fluids.
In particular, the fluids of strong stratification, of staggered density, have been taken as a model, and the influence of the background rotation, such as the rotation of the Earth, in a vertical axis and in a swirl of circular motion has been studied. In fact, they have focused on the instability caused by waves flowing out of turbulence: instability can alter fluid flow and deform turbulence.
