Small runway without boom
Genetic studies have shown that the population of rorcual menor (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) has been very high for a long time and has not suffered a significant increase. The research has been carried out at Standford University (USA), analyzing the mitochondrial DNA of meat from 179 whales that were on sale in the Japanese markets. The generational accumulation of errors in mitochondrial DNA reveals the size of the populations of yesteryear.
This research can frustrate Japanese demand, since, according to the Japanese Cetacean Research Institute, this species of whales is much more abundant than a hundred years ago, so its hunting should be allowed. Demonstrating that the small whale has always been abundant, its hunting will hardly be allowed.
