Researchers at Imperial College London find molecules of uracil and chantina generated in space in the Murchison meteorite, which he touched in Australia in 1969. They report that these molecules contain heavy carbon atoms that can only form in space, heavier than Earth's carbon atoms. Since uracil and xanthine are precursors of genetic material, researchers suggest that some components of DNA and RNA molecules may have their origin in space.
