Titanium can be cheapened

If the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao were to be built now, a team of researchers from the University of Cambridge could save a lot of money. These have invented an electrochemical method for the direct reduction of titanium oxide and the collection of pure titanium. If it can be repeated in a laboratory on an industrial scale, the costs of this precious material would be considerably reduced, since titanium oxide can be easily extracted from mines.
