Filtering phone calls

The French company "Télécom" has just launched a device that can turn the telephone line into a private line. Somehow, when the subscriber wants to enter the "red list" and when he wants to leave the red list. The "red list" is complemented by those who want to hide their phone number. Currently in France there are more than 5 million subscribers on this red list.

However, being on this list has a problem, that is, the subscriber is incommunicado at all times with the outsiders, except those who know the number.

The phone call filter is called "Selectappel" and is located between the phone line and the phone. When enabled (placed when the subscriber wishes) a synthetic voice prompts the code number to be marked. This code number is given by the subscriber to whoever wishes. When the code is marked, the phone rings.

If the code is not marked, the phone does not ring and advises to call later.

The code is a number of three figures that the subscriber can change at any time.

This system offers important advantages to the telephone user. People on the "Red List" will not have to keep the number secret.

This call filter can be purchased in France and the price is 2,000 pounds (40,000 pesetas).
