Skiatzaileak mendi

During these days the mountain villages and villages of Switzerland are full of people. In a moment of joy and satisfaction on the part of skiers, dark clouds appear on the horizon of sky stations. Forests protecting villages on the hillside of the avalanche are dying.

Mountain villages can be abandoned in the medium term. The loss of European forests caused by air pollution has reached the Alps. According to data collected by the Swiss Federal Minister, 36% of the forests covering Switzerland are affected by the disease.

Villages in the Alps are protected, to some extent, by the forests of snowfalls. In case of forest death, protection disappears. The risk increases if we consider that the most affected forests are mountain forests. 43% of them are occupied. In some areas the problem is very severe. At the top of the canton of Uri, for example, there are 90% kaikdor spruce and 50% red fir and pine trees.
