Salmonella against cancer

The company "Vion Pharmaceutical" has begun using genetically modified Salmonella bacteria as a remedy for cancer. A group of patients with tumor will be the first human sample to be used to test this technique to measure the effectiveness of the new drug.

The technique created by the Yale Cancer Center uses a derivative of the common bacterium Salmonella. Once its pathogenicity has been eliminated, it has been discovered that the bacteria have the ability to eliminate tumors or stop the growth of tumors, and although until now they have been tested with laboratory animals, from now on it will also be tried with humans. If the good results obtained with animals are also reached in humans, we would be facing an effective healing technique of skin and subcutaneous tumors.
