The General Directorate of Public Works of the Netherlands has decided to replace conventional concrete with a PVC cover for waterproofing the walls and bottoms of the canals that cross over the roads of Frisa. From a floating platform and once immersed in the water, the cover 750 m long, 175 m wide and 1.2 mm thick adheres to the walls and channel backgrounds.
According to Dutch studies, with this system the cost of waterproofing is lower and the duration of the channel increases.
