New period in the Geological Table
The Ediacar introduces a new period in the geological table after 15 years of debate. This period began about 600 million years ago and ended about 542 million years ago. It is in this period when the multicellular life begins to proliferate.
This period began after a global glaciation and was the driving force behind the development of a complex life that would entail climate change. The fossils of that time are very special. According to the experts, most of the living beings of that time lived in the bottom of the sea. In the next period, the Kanbrico, appeared the first predators, which caused the disappearance of living beings that proliferated in the Ediacar.
The new period has been approved after overcoming three votes in the International Committee on Stratigraphy. However, Russian geologists have not been satisfied with their name. Ediaca is the name of a place in the Australian mountains, but many have used the Vendian, awarded by a Russian geologist.
