Vibrations of molecules in detail

Researchers at Illinois University have developed a technique that allows to see in more detail how vibratory energy is reorganized in molecules. They have combined ultra-fast infrared pulses and visual pulses. This spectroscopic technique allows to measure the changes in the vibratory energy that occur in femtoseconds and thus to know in real time the dynamic and mechanical properties of the molecules. The new spectroscopy technique will be very useful in nanotechnology.
