The American writer Martin Gardner died on May 22 in Oklahoma, at the age of 95. He died after a brief illness.

Gardner has been one of the great names of scientific dissemination. Known primarily for the dissemination of mathematics, he wrote for 30 years in the journal Scientific American a column on mathematical games. Many of these columns were published in book format and translated into several languages.

His best-selling book was The annotated Alice: A commented version of the books Alicia in the Amazing Territory and Mirrors of writer Lewis Carroll. In addition to explaining the mathematics present in these books, Gardner explains his relationship with the context of Victorian England.

But Gardner was not only known for mathematics. His columns and books against pseudosciences are also famous. An example of a book on this topic is Did Adam and Eve Have Nabels? is (Adam and Eve had navel? ). And that's just an example. He has been one of the most important writers in favor of rationality.
