The newspaper published a paper on malformations of Chinese children. The work indicates that the number of malformations and the time of fertilization are directly related. If fertilization occurs in winter or early spring, the number of malformations is 7.9 miles on average.
On the contrary, if fertilization occurs in summer or early autumn, the average number of malformations is 5.4 million. To clarify the meaning of these numbers, researchers say that the key is in the air breathed by pregnant women.
The highest pollution occurs in winter, as in most households, coal heaters are used. For the realization of this study a sample of 2.2 million people has been taken and has been located in the industrial areas of Shenyang and Dalia (northeast) and Zehng-zhou (center-east).
The station is not the only determining factor. The women who have the most risk are those who work in the industry and live in the cities.
