Good results of marine reserves

According to a study by scientists at the University of California, marine reserves not only protect the area declared a reserve, but also serve to protect the most transboundary areas of the reserve. The aim of marine reserves is to recover biodiversity and fish population. Currently, the area of all marine reserves is only a hundred of the surface of the sea.

According to the researchers, the fact that reserves retain this status for one or two years can give very good results. In this period, population density can increase by 91%, biomass by 192% and species diversity by 23%. In addition, organisms can be 31% higher.
