Image search by composition and colors
When they have to find an image on the Internet network, search engines like Yahoo or Google do text-based searches. That is, they should be given a name or description of what they want. For his part, the image search developed by David Vicente in the Faculty of Computer Science of San Sebastian, performs a very search, based on the composition of the image and colors.
The new computer tool is called Look4Picture. Searches are done very simply, selecting an image and finding similar ones. He is currently able to perform quick searches on a photo bank of 60,000 images, in order to prepare for the internet. But for this, and given the current size of the Internet, the only computer is not enough. Therefore, we are working on the design phase of a computer network that manages searches.
