The gene responsible for male infertility is identified

At the annual meeting of the European Association of Human Reproduction and Embryology, several researchers from the Amsterdam Academic Medical Center noted that they had identified the gene related to male sterility. The ZNF214 gene appears to be responsible for the production of few sperm cells.

Now, experts aim to continue investigating the gene and find a method to treat infertility. To carry out the research the sperm DNA of several men was analyzed. Three of the male sterile had three mutations in the ZNF214 gene. The sterile ones, on the other hand, found no mutations in men.
