Artificial human chromosomes

After the yeast and the rats, man has touched the turn. John Harrington and his team have synthesized the first artificial human chromosome in Cleveland, USA, Case Western Reserve.

Semisynthetic and seminatural chromosome. The arrow shows an artificial chromosome.

However, two elements of natural DNA are needed: the ends and the center of the chromosome. Everything else is synthetic and consists of genes. There is curiosity about the behavior of these genes.

This technical advance has no application in genetic therapy because they do not know how to enter the cells of the organism, but can be a tool in the future to change and repair the DNA.
