Library of the University of Strasbourg II. Fragments of 20th century papyrus have been found. There are written verses by Enpedokles, a Greek poet and philosopher, which is why they are important. Pythagoras, Parmenides, Thales or Democritus, was a thinker before Enpedokles Socrates, that is, precursor of Western philosophy. The works of these philosophers are known thanks to very later references.
The text of Strasbourg was found by Professor Alain Martin of the University of Brussels and is one of the longest texts ever before Socrates.
