The Conference on Trade in Endangered Species (“Cites”), at its last meeting, has made an important decision: it has approved the trade in boli.
According to the decision, trade will be limited to Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe on the one hand, and to Japan on the other. According to the members of Cites, the decision will protect elephants for a long time. However, for WWF (Global Fund for Nature), this is a risky measure, as trafficking can lead to the proliferation of undercover hunters in Africa and Asia.
