IBM engineers have prepared in New York a system to identify unweighted vegetables and fruits and weigh them without scales. The system, called Veggie Vision, combines scanner used in photocopiers with artificial intelligence software. Comparing this information with your database, the system calculates the price of the product to be invoiced.
According to IBM managers, it can replace the barcode system, but for this it takes a few years, among other things because the optical system of the scanner is still too expensive.
