New brands of Albatros

French biologists Pierre Jouventin and Henri Weimerrskirch have followed the routes of six albatross via satellite. This is the first time that these types of sessions succeed. Six albatrosses (Diomedea exulans) were placed radio stations of 180 g of weight. The males landed while the females were warm. Some spent 33 days before arriving home at sea.

The albatrosses traveled to the southwest of the Indian Ocean and on a single feeding trip they traveled between 3,000 and 15,000 kilometers. The birds managed to maintain a speed of 56 km/h at 800 km.
