Ecological engine for the year 2000

The automotive group PSA, which groups the companies Peugeot and Citröen, has announced the construction of a new ecological engine for the year 2000. The new engine is able to retain more pollutants thanks to a particle filtration system, and will be used in a new model in the extraction phase.

The engine is from the HDI family, high-pressure direct injection diesel, and will emit less pollutants than the conventional diesel engine: 20% less CO2, 40% less CO and 50% less hydrocarbons. The new particle filtering system, called FAP, has taken 18 months to fully develop.
