Itinerary 30 years

Elhuyar magazine turns thirty. Founded in the 1970s by a group of Basque engineering students, the project has evolved and strengthened into a journal dedicated to scientific outreach in 1996 and reaching the current journal.

The illusion of these young people is why we maintain our commitment to socialize science, since scientific and technological knowledge decisively influences the social and economic progress of society. Under the protection of these 30 years, but looking forward, we wanted to take this moment to put on the table the delicate relationship between science and citizenship. We have asked experts in different fields for their opinion. Should we stop being passive spectators and take the floor in scientific decisions? What makes a large section of society so far from science? Key questions for those of us who believe we aspire to democratize science. We invite you to reflect on these questions. We will be happy to receive your opinions as a comment in the magazine@elhuyar.com or on the web aldizkaria@elhuyar.eus.

On the other hand, we have also brought Helena Matute, experimental psychologist. Matute analyzes in the Labpsico laboratory how we create false beliefs, and clearly tells us that we all tend to create such false beliefs. He has shared with us a reflection on this.

In addition, we want to show a Deposit that wants to bridge the past and the future; how to bring to the future objects that inform the culture and customs of the past. The Heritage Deposit of Gipuzkoa keeps thousands of pieces in special conditions so that they are not damaged and we will show you their entrails.

We've also taken a look at wildlife to see how it looks from the eyes of the world's best photographers. It is always a pleasure to meet the photographers of the prestigious Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition and their works. Here is the opportunity!
