Online Letters by Alfred Wallace

The Natural History Museum of London has put at your disposal the letters of Alfred Wallace on the web Wallace Letters Online. Wallace has collected almost 4,000 letters sent and received, 95% of the postal exchange that has been maintained since the past. Among them are the letters exchanged with Charles Darwin. The project manager underlines that this is the first time that the postal exchange between two men will be published entirely.

Wallace has passed history in the shadow of Darwin, although both are the theory of the evolution of species by natural selection. The publication of the letters has been the first of the actions of the Wallace100 project, but it will not be the last one. The Wallace100 project, which will mark the 100th anniversary of Wallace's death in November 2013, celebrates several commemorative events this year.
