The eruption of a volcano has covered the Russian peninsula of dust. The activity of the Shivellow volcano began in January, and gradually has been increasing until the beginning of the new and hard explosive eruption.

The roads have had to be closed in the area due to earthquakes and mudslides. Volcanic gases and dust reached a height of eight kilometers and the snowy territory was covered by a dark dust. The Envisat satellite photographed the environment 800 kilometers away.

According to the study group of such events on the Kamchatka peninsula, at any time there may be more eruptions. In fact, a lava dome is being formed in the crater and earthquakes are constant. The last eruption of Shivelutxe took place in 2001.
