Io satellite approaches Jupiter

Io, the innermost of Jupiter's four brightest satellites, slowly approaches Jupiter. In the orbit of Io every year approaches the planet about 13 centimeters. This action is not at all surprising. The Moon, for example, moves away a few centimeters each year from Earth and astronomers expected similar effects for satellites like Io.
