Dinosaurs breathed like birds

Researchers from Ohio and Harvard universities have found airbags in the bones of a dinosaur. This shows that dinosaurs had a respiratory apparatus similar to that of today's birds, as birds also have airbags in their bones.

The discovery was made in the fossil of a carnivorous dinosaur atopus, Majungatholus. The air bags of this fossil have been compared to those of 200 current birds and are very similar. It is believed that dinosaurs needed a lot of energy and with these bony air bags would have an effective respiratory system.

There are many similarities between dinosaurs and birds in recent times; no wonder birds are descendants of some dinosaurs.
